Colon cancer awareness and prevention is an initiative that hits close to home for our team here at Elantis. One of our staff member’s father recently passed away after a six-year-long battle with this disease, and another staff member’s father is a colon cancer survivor.
Everything we do at Elantis is motivated by our core values: 1. Own the experience, 2. Remain people focused, and 3. Do the right thing. For these reasons, we are participating in an initiative to raise money and awareness for colon cancer. We do this not only out of compassion for our staff members who have been affected by this disease, but for all the individuals who have suffered or have had a loved one suffer from a battle with colon cancer.
Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of death by cancer in Canada for both men and women, taking the lives of nearly 10,000 Canadians each year. Although these numbers are tragic, what is more tragic is that 95% of all colon cancer deaths could have been prevented with early detection and treatment. Therefore, raising funding and awareness for colon cancer presents a simple solution: if we work together to help promote and normalize screening for colon cancer, we can prevent deaths that affect 1 in every 13 Canadians every year.
This is why we have decided to team up with Bumrun 2021. Bumrun is a charity that raises awareness for colon cancer screening and prevention, partnering with Colorectal Cancer Resource and Action Network.

In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, Bumrun is remaining virtual in 2021. Between now and April 25th, you can join the Elantis team or create your own in your city. You can then post photos of you and your team running for colon cancer awareness and prevention to Instagram @bumruncanada, Facebook bumrun page or Twitter @bumruncanada, or email them to us office@bumrun.com. Anytime before April 25th, you may record your 5k run using a run-tracking app and upload your run time. Finally on April 25th and 9 am MST, you can participate in a live Bumrun Race Day Workout via Zoom!
